Apologia Science Curriculum Review – Elementary

Specifically designed for homeschool families, the Apologia Science Curriculum makes science accessible, even for teachers and students with limited science backgrounds. Each of the seven textbook courses covers one year of science study. Botany, Zoology 1, Zoology 2, and Zoology 3 are best for grades 2-4, while Astronomy, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Chemistry and Physics are best for grades 4-6. All textbooks are written at a fourth-grade reading level and are appropriate for elementary students with teacher guidance. Each chapter provides review questions and science experiments. Each textbook’s optional notebooks contains additional activities and review worksheets. Due to the ample vocabulary words and detailed science experiments, most K-1 students are not prepared for this approach. We recommend this curriculum for grades 2-6. This curriculum presents a Christian creationist worldview.

Customer Reviews

Layout is awesome
The layout is very simple and easy for the kids to do. The step-by-step experiments right after the reading really helps to reinforce what they are learning. I would definitely use the journals with the textbooks. (Review by Sandra)

Great Product!
We just finished with the first lesson and the first project and my kids loved it. They were so bored with our other science lessons and I was tired of searching for all the necessary stuff to go along with the projects. I would highly recommend this curriculum and get the recommended kit to go along with it. It’s great. (Review by Kelly H.)

This is wonderful…exactly what I was looking for!
My 6 year old daughter and I love science time now! This curriculum is just what I was looking for. I like the Christian perspective, as well as the scientist’s perspective all in one. Wonderful! The terms used are easy for the parent and student to learn and yet very informative information. Very well written, easy to read. The projects are so FUN! I also like that you can work the program at your own pace. My daughter wants to keep going after each lesson. Sometimes it’s even hard for me to put it down. Highly recommend. Your students will have so much fun and they will love to learn. (Review by I Franco)

A little over my 8 year olds head
The content of the book was awesome–I learned a lot from it and my daughter also did, however at times it was over her head. I wish I had waited until she was just a bit older. She enjoyed the experiments and they were very simple to do. (Review by A. N.)

Science Teacher
While this curriculum is intended for homeschoolers, it adapts very well for a classroom setting. I have used this text, the Astronomy text and the General Science text for middle school in a Christian school. Teachers, parents and administrators alike love the easy-to-explain science, the apologetics approach and the easy-to-purchase supply list. (Review by Nick)

Great Product
My daughter loved this curriculum last year and continues to use this book for pleasure reading. The prep time for experiments was minimal. They were easy to do, yet allowed for a lot of learning and fun. I will definitely purchase other products in this series. (Review by Sandy L.)

My Children Love this Book!
Thank you, Jeannie, for writing the young Apologia Exploring Creation books! This is our second one and we are spellbound by each page. The pictures are captivating and the text is written in such a delightful manner that my children are learning so much and having fun at the same time. (Review by Anonymous)
