Science Project Name Suggestions

Thinking of a name for science fair projects for 7th graders or science fair projects for 8th graders is all part of the fun. Your kid’s sense of creativity will be challenged, and the unique name they come up with can boost their excitement for the project.

Your kiddo can approach naming their science project in different ways; they can play around with puns, rhymes, and jokes, or add a popular reference for relevance. For example, some name suggestions for cool science kits include ‘Botany Bonanza’ for plant-themed projects, ‘Microbe Mania’ for experiments on bacteria, or ‘Chemi-Wizards’ for chemistry topics.

Thinking of a Science Project Name

It’s easy to get carried away when thinking of a science project name, but it’s important to remember to stay grounded on the nature of the experiment. Here are some tips you can give your kid to help them land on something catchy:

Use Puns, Rhymes, or Jokes

One of the most creative ways to name a science project is to use puns, rhymes, or jokes. Take the main idea of the experiment, then play around with words that go with it by sound or vibe, or think about how you can present it in a cheeky way.

Reference Pop Culture

A good way to bring relevance to a science project is to reference it to a popular idea. These concepts can include trending topics online, song or movie titles, character names, and quotes, among others.

Tie It Back to Science

Always remember to tie back the science project name to the gist of the experiment. A simple way to do this is to add a subtitle.

For example, if your child creates an experiment on tornadoes, they can name it ‘Twister Tales,’ and then add the subtitle ‘Exploring How Tornadoes Form.’ This will give an idea of what the presentation is all about and how it’s related to the science that they’re learning.
