Dear Parents and Families,

The COVID-19 coronavirus has been declared a pandemic and is significantly affecting everyone’s life. In the past few days, public and private schools have closed, restaurants and public institutions have closed, and essential food and other supplies have limited availability as people try to prepare for the unknown the best they can. Many of you already know someone close to you that has either tested positive for the virus or been put under quarantine. Our prayers go out to the families who have already been affected in this way.

At the same time, we also need to be learning, growing and helping in times of uncertainty. We need answers to questions like:

  1. What is this virus?
  2. How is it transmitted?
  3. What can I do to reduce the spread?
  4. What do I tell my children?

For over 25 years, Home Science Tools has been enabling parents to bring science to life for their children. We just developed two excellent Coronavirus Education Kits that answer these questions: 1) for elementary level students and 2) for older students. These products will help you and your children better understand virus transmission and how to respond and protect yourselves and others.

If you want to learn more about viruses and germs with hands-on experiments using household items, take a look at our Learn About Germs Science Projects. We will be providing even more valuable resources, lessons, advice, and more on our ‘Science at Home’ hub; this page will be updated weekly as we work to provide relevant, easy-to-use and follow projects and plans to keep kids curious and inspired to learn more about the world in which we live. Our goal is also to help provide learning solutions to families who may be struggling to home school due to circumstances; please feel free to share this page with any friends or peers you believe may benefit from it.

And, if you are looking for ways to have a rich science learning experience at home right now, please check out our gift to you, a free Spring Science Projects Guide, featuring 42 science projects to do at home! We also have a large selection of Home Science Kits for every age and/or grade level to keep you and your kids actively involved in experiential, inspired learning.

Science plays a growing and critical role in our lives. HST is grateful to play a role in helping you bring science to life for your family.

Warm regards,

Frank Schaner
