Home Science Tools Hosts Corporate Community Service Day at ZooMontana

May 31, 2022

Recently, Home Science Tools organized a community service day for employees to serve the local community at ZooMontana in Billings, Montana. The team rolled up their sleeves to improve the Zoo’s Homestead and Wolverine Garden areas. Home Science Tools CEO Frank Schaner says, “The Zoo is such an important part of our community and I enjoyed being able to serve them.”

With limited staff and budget, the zoo relies on volunteers to keep up with the tremendous onsite workload. The Homestead and Wolverine Gardens were in need of spring cleaning. Home Science Tools worked to make these gardens a safer and more comfortable environment for both the animals and the community. Volunteer coordinator for ZooMontana, Loran Salsbury said, “All the areas the group worked on turned out great. We can’t thank you enough.”

ZooMontana is the only zoo in the state of Montana. They focus on quality care for over 80 animals while providing education to Montana communities. After working to beautify the zoo garden areas, volunteers got to have animal encounters with Bandy, the Three Banded Armadillo, and Winston, the Two-Toed Sloth. Executive Director of ZooMontana Jeff Ewelt, known by the community as Jeff the Nature Guy, spent time educating volunteers on the educational programs and future goals. Jeff says, “It was incredible to have you guys here to volunteer at the zoo, and we were happy to introduce the volunteers to Bandy and Winston.”
